Vintage/Heirloom garments are 40 to 100 years old! They are not reproductions and will not be in the same condition as something you might purchase new in a department store today. Most of the Vintage/Heirloom garments we offer have been worn, although occassionally we receive an item in its original packaging, in which case it is always washed to remove decades of dust and offered to you clean and pressed.
Although we purchase high quality garments in excellent condition, upon close inspection, you may notice flaws that you would not expect in a new garment. Please do not expect them to be perfect. They will be perfectly lovely, perfectly charming, perfect for the occasion, and perfectly wearable. But they will not be without flaws, and we truly do not want you to be disappointed with your purchase. Here is what you might expect with your purchase of a vintage garment: areas of thinning fabric, period mends, tiny pinholes, occasional broken threads, small faint spots or color variations. All the items we sell have been meticulously pre-spotted, washed in Dreft, and carefully pressed. Some have been carefully treated with the appropriate combination of linen washes to restore them to their original brightness. We make necessary repairs by hand to preserve the garment’s integrity and the occasional button, ribbon, or trim replacement is done with an item of the same period.
